I will now match my current skills and abilities to two job opportunities. As evidence I’ll use my personal SWOT analysis.

 

1.     Assistant Management Accountant

 

Job description

Our client publishes and distributes video game software for a variety of hardware platforms such as Xbox 360, PlayStation, Nintendo, PC and wireless devices. They have a varied portfolio, boasting some of the best-selling and award-winning titles in the video-gaming world. An exciting and rare opportunity has now arisen for an Assistant Management Accountant to join their team.
This is the ideal role for a part qualified accountant looking to progress their career with a leading global company in a growing and fast moving industry. Joining a highly performing team, the successful candidate will be supported throughout their studies to enable them to carve out a future career path filled with opportunities.
As an Assistant Management Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing the selling, general and administration (SG&A) expenses in the P&L function of our client's UK group.
You will post and prepare all month end journals for payroll costs, bonuses and other HR related accruals, as well as monitoring HR related purchase orders. Analysing and reconciling the HR balance sheet control accounts, you will calculate in detail the monthly overhead recharges to the Head Office in Japan.
Forecasting the SG&A expenses, you will undertake variance analysis and provide commentary on all costs, as well as preparing the annual SG&A budget. Additionally, you will calculate bonus payouts by monitoring objective achievements throughout the business.”

“To be considered for this role, you must be a part qualified accountant. Equally important are your advanced MS Excel skills and sharp attention to detail.

As an Assistant Management Accountant, you must have the ability to communicate with staff at all levels. Self motivated and proactive, you must be a team player and possess excellent prioritisation and organisational skills.”

2.     Project Accountant
 
Job description
“A Large National Charity is seeking a qualified Project Accountant to lead on a number of change projects covering a range of financial transactions. This will include the recording of £500m if income from a wide range of sources.

The scope of the role will include, but will not be limited to:

• Centralisation of accounting processes with the aim to allow Finance Business Partnering teams to add more value to their customers and perform less/ no transaction processing activities
• Provide finance system support to the Financial Control team and wider Finance Operations group as required in areas such as report production and design
• Represent the Financial Control team to influence process design for projects that run outside of finance but which affect finance, e.g. work with Fundraising teams in defining processes for new income streams
• Act as cover for the Financial Control team during busier periods or absence, such as production or review of reconciliations, posting or review of journals, upload or testing of interfaces”
